PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 17, 2013) - Slice, the ultimate shopping companion, today launches its free iPad app and brings a tablet-optimized Slice experience to iOS for the first time. Slice for iPad displays all of a user's online purchases in a highly visual and easy-to-browse format and sends timely push notifications about crucial purchase information, including delivery updates, price adjustments and product recalls.
The Slice iPad app comes at a time when consumers are inundated by receipts and shipping details from their holiday shopping, and in need of a solution for making sense of the information from their purchases. The iPad app debuts the day before Free Shipping Day 2013 and gives consumers an effortless way to track their free shipments -- and all of their packages -- this holiday season. The app is also a timely tool for simplifying post-holiday returns, summoning receipts and return policy details with a few taps.
Slice syncs with a user's inbox to make use of the information buried within electronic receipts and shipping confirmations. In November 2013, Slice expanded its service from smartphones and the Web to tablets, introducing a dedicated app for Android tablets. Slice is also now live on the Amazon Appstore for Kindle Fire and other Android devices.
"We want to make it as easy as possible for consumers to get the information that matters about their purchases, especially during this incredibly busy shopping season," said Scott Brady, CEO of Slice. "We're delivering on that goal by bringing our service to all of the devices people use to browse and shop."
The iPad app features the top capabilities that define Slice as the online shopper's best friend, including:
- Package tracking and shipping notifications: Slice automatically tracks shipments and keeps users updated on delivery status. The shipments section within the app tracks each package in real time and pinpoints its location, providing easy access to tracking number, carrier, estimated delivery time and a description of its contents.
- Price Drop Alerts: Slice monitors price adjustments for recently purchased items and notifies users when they are eligible for a partial refund.
- Recall Alerts: Slice integrates with the Consumer Product Safety Commission's API to match users' purchases with recalled products. In the case of a match, Slice sends a push notification that links directly to the CPSC.gov recall page with details about the hazards and next steps.
Slice has processed more than 100 million items to date for a total purchase value of over $3.2 billion. Slice was listed in Lifehacker's best iPhone and Android apps of 2013, named one of the "Best Productivity Apps of 2012" and one of the "World's Greatest Apps" in 2013 by Business Insider, and was selected as an Official Honoree in The 17th Annual Webby Awards in the Utilities & Services category.
