SECAUCUS, NJ, Jan. 3, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Goya Foods, Society of the Educational Arts, Inc. (Teatro SEA), and the Hispanic Federation celebrate Three Kings Day to honor the cultural traditions of its Hispanic heritage at Teatro SEA, located at 107 Suffolk Street, New York on Monday, January 6, 2014 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The day's festivities will include the enactment of the three kings, distribution of toys to 3,000 children and families, LIVE music and dance performances, along with snacks and drinks for the children and their families.
The Christian holiday, also known as Twelfth Night or Feast of the Epiphany, ends the 12 days of Christmas. Many Hispanic communities in the United States and other cultures around the world celebrate Three Kings Day with parades and performances depicting the Biblical story of three kings following a star to find baby Jesus, while bringing gifts of frankincense, gold and myrrh.
"Goya believes in the importance of maintaining Latin traditions and culture of our heritage," says Rafael Toro, Director of Public Relations at Goya Foods. "Today, we honor a holiday that is celebrated by Hispanics and other cultures around the world and being a part of this event with Teatro SEA and the Hispanic Federation is our way of giving back to the community. It is also always great to be able to put a smile on kid's faces during the holidays!"
Every year, Goya participates in the Hispanic Federation's "A Christmas Miracle" toy drive to distribute over 5,000 toys to over 22 charities, churches and non-profit agencies throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. In addition, Goya will sponsor Noche Latina at the Nets vs. Atlanta Hawks game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and will donate 50 pounds of food to the Hispanic Federation for every point scored by the Nets during Monday night's game.
"We're thrilled to be holding our Three King's Day celebration for the twelfth year!" says Dr. Manuel A. Moran, CEO & Artistic Director SEA, Society of the Educational Arts, Inc. "We're very excited to be partnering with GOYA, Hispanic Federation and The Clemente once again to keep this tradition alive and to offer magic to the children on this special holiday!"
