The Indianapolis Star is the Premier Media Sponsor of the Brackets For Good Fundraising Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Jan. 14, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Brackets For Good® and the Indianapolis Star® today announced that The Star will be the premier media sponsor for the 2014 Brackets For Good Tournament. In March, Brackets For Good will host a single-elimination, bracket style fundraising tournament for Central Indiana nonprofits. The community scores points for the nonprofit of their choice by donating on www.bracketsforgood.org. The tournament winner receives a grant of $10,000 provided by title sponsor, Valeo Financial Advisors. As the premier media sponsor, The Star will promote the tournament in print, on-line and through social media in an effort to broaden exposure of this worthwhile effort.

Matt McIntyre, Co-founder and Executive Director of Brackets For Good said, "Everyone benefits from The Star's association with our tournament. Star readers get real time access to tournament information, and our participating nonprofits should receive more donations as a result of this greater awareness." Myrta Pulliam, the Star's Director of Special Projects said, "We are proud to be associated with such an innovative way to support the local community. Brackets For Good is helping give deserving Hoosier nonprofits both financial support and community awareness."

The 2013 Brackets For Good tournament raised $112,998 in donations for participating organizations. This year's tournament tips off on February 28, with a field of 64 Central Indiana nonprofits. Organizations advance through the tournament by scoring more points than their opponent, via community donations. Every dollar raised equates to one point, with points reset each round. 100% of all tournament donations go to the nonprofit, regardless of advancement. Brackets For Good is a tournament where everybody wins.
