WASHINGTON, Jan. 15, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE) is pleased to announce four new Board of Directors members as a result of the annual election of Directors: Dan Adler, Matt Cheney, Kathleen Weiss and Michael Ware now fill the vacancies.
"ACORE directly benefits from the impressive credentials, experience, and industry expertise of this Class of 2014 ACORE Board of Directors. These distinguished individuals will help ACORE to achieve our mission to create a more secure and prosperous America with clean, renewable energy, and continue to be the voice for the entire renewable industry community regardless of technology," said ACORE President and CEO, Michael Brower.
"Last year, the ACORE Board unanimously developed and ratified a strategic plan for ACORE to achieve greater impact, and reach new audiences in 2014 and beyond," continued Brower. "The proven business and industry leadership of our Board and our members defines the way forward for renewable energy policy and finance, and I am excited and very much looking forward to working closely with the Board and with these new members. I am particularly pleased to see long-time ACORE Board member Michael Ware returning for another term; his vision, sagacity and willingness to 'roll-up his sleeves and get it done' reflect his abiding loyalty to ACORE. Equally, Dan Adler, the true architect of the ACORE strategic plan, returning to the Board is a wonderful guarantee of sustained focus and certainty, which is to us, a very good thing.
Dan Adler, returning to the Board through this election, is the Managing Director of the California Clean Energy Fund (CalCEF), a nonprofit, evergreen venture capital fund created to accelerate investment in California's clean energy economy said, "ACORE, like the industry it represents, is stronger than ever. It is a privilege to help lead this great organization, and to empower its exceptional staff, as we move renewable energy technologies into their rightfully central role in our economy and society."
Matt Cheney is the CEO of CleanPath Ventures LLC, a next generation effort designed to manage capital-intensive, late-stage renewable energy project development and financing, servicing growing demand for solutions. "I am honored by this appointment which will allow me to focus on the ACORE mission and where it intersects with the needs of the private sector. I am keen to contribute wholeheartedly to promote ACORE and its mission, which is central to the advancement of smart renewable energy policy in the U.S. and abroad."
Michael Ware is the founder of Advance Capital Markets, Inc., a private investment firm with a long and successful track record in the energy and power industries. He has served as a financial advisor to private equity funds, international energy firms, independent power companies, electric utilities as well as a number of successful entrepreneurial enterprises, and has served on the ACORE Board of Directors since its inception in 2001. "I am honored to have been reappointed to the Board and will support the growth, reach and impact of the organization, concentrating on the development of robust financial markets for renewable energy technology and projects."
Kathleen Weiss, Vice President, Federal Government Affairs, First Solar, has over 25 years of experience working in the private sector, for both corporations and trade groups, on public policy formation and advocacy. "ACORE plays a critical role at the cross section of innovation, technology, finance and public policy as a convener of industry participants and educator of diverse stakeholders," said Weiss. "I've seen ACORE's effectiveness first-hand and believe I can contribute to its success as ACORE continues to strengthen and expand its partnerships with government and energy sector players, both domestic and international."
