At the beginning of January 2014, FirstFarms A/S has appointed agricultural economist Bjarne Maj in a newly created position as field production manager. Bjarne Maj will have focus on the new cultivation area in Western Romania.
Bjarne Maj, who is 47 years old, has for several years worked in leading positions within crop- and animal production in other Eastern European countries. He will primarily be responsible for the establishment of the new crop centre in Timisoara, but also work closely with the field production manager in Eastern Romania and in Slovakia.
FirstFarms owns 1,600 hectares of agricultural land in the new cultivation area. Until now this area has been rented out, but will in future be part of own operation. FirstFarms expects a significant potential for further expansion of the operation in this area, and the company considers Bjarne Maj as the right profile to ensure this development.
