NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Jan 23, 2014) - Fiduciary Trust Company International, a global investment management firm serving individuals, families, endowments and foundations since 1931, is pleased to announce the election of Gail E. Cohen to the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (NAEPC) Estate Planning Hall of Fame® as an Accredited Estate Planner® (Distinguished). This honor has been bestowed annually by the NAEPC since 2004 in recognition of distinguished service to the field of estate planning.
NAEPC President Gregory E. Sellers, CPA, AEP®, stated, "We are honored to admit Ms. Cohen as a member of The Estate Planning Hall of Fame Class of 2013. They have excelled in not only their own professional discipline, but are also recognized as elite estate planning professionals by other members encompassing all areas of the estate planning community. In addition to their own practice expertise, they share their knowledge with others nationally, through their writings in professional publications and speaking engagements. We are all grateful for the excellent leadership they have exhibited throughout their careers."
In her role as Vice Chairman and General Trust Counsel, Ms. Cohen is responsible for the firm's trust and estate services, as well as client relationships in New York and across Fiduciary Trust's regional offices. She joined the firm in 1994 and has over 30 years of experience in the area of trusts and estates. Ms. Cohen is a member of Fiduciary Trust's Board of Directors and sits on the Management and Executive committees.
"I'm incredibly honored to be named as part of such a prestigious group," said Ms. Cohen. "Throughout my career I've worked with, and learned from, some of the best and brightest in our industry, and I'm grateful to be able to help families grow and preserve their legacies from one generation to the next."
In 2010 and 2011, she was named one of the "Top 50 Women in Wealth" by Wealth Manager magazine. In addition, Ms. Cohen was elected by her peers to serve as the 2013 chair of the New York Bankers Association (NYBA) -- the first woman to do so in the organization's 120-year history.
The NAEPC promotes the multi-disciplinary approach to estate planning by supporting local estate planning councils and their members and by encouraging the formation of new councils. The NAEPC encourages the attainment of the Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®) and Estate Planning Law Specialist (EPLS) designations by qualified estate planning professionals. Additionally, the NAEPC supports the efforts of the NAEPC Education Foundation to increase public awareness of the importance of estate planning by a team of professional advisors.
