SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - Jan 30, 2014) - 2nd Watch, Inc., a global leader in building, deploying and managing Amazon Web Services (AWS)-based IT operations for the enterprise, today announced it was chosen by TicketsWest to migrate a critical component of its business to AWS. TicketsWest, one of the nation's largest and most established full-service national ticketing distributors, has partnered with 2nd Watch to move its content management system (CMS) and websites to the cloud.
"The decision to upgrade our hosted solution for TicketsWest.com was of extreme importance. Our ecommerce goals mandate that we reside in a scalable environment that can accommodate large bursts of traffic for high-demand events," said Dusty Kurtz, Vice President of TicketsWest. "In our industry downtime is not an option, so we appreciated 2nd Watch's expertise in helping design a configuration that afforded us the stability and flexibility we desired."
"We knew migrating ticketswest.com to the cloud would be beneficial, but we also recognized the need for an experienced partner to lead the initiative," said David Barbieri, TicketsWest CIO. "With its vast experience migrating companies to AWS, and our past experience working with the company, 2nd Watch was a natural choice for this project. Its strong team and intimate knowledge of the platform led to a seamless transition that has delivered a noticeable improvement in performance, reliability and scalability."
Upon deciding to move ticketswest.com to AWS, TicketsWest engaged with 2nd Watch to determine the solution architecture, application delivery, and business and IT strategy of the migration to ensure uptime and optimal user experience. Following this review, 2nd Watch designed and built TicketsWest's application using a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) configuration, multiple web servers across several availability zones to ensure high availability, and AWS CloudFormation, thus providing TicketsWest version control of their AWS infrastructure. 2nd Watch also set up Amazon CloudWatch to monitor system health. As a result of these efforts, TicketsWest has improved performance, reliability and scalability of its main ticketing application.
"The success of this project is a testament to the combined work of the TIcketsWest and 2nd Watch teams, and exemplifies the need for experience in navigating the complexities of deploying applications in AWS," said Matt Gerber, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing, 2nd Watch. "Based on the positive results of these efforts, I'm confident we'll be working with TicketsWest on future projects."
