STAMFORD, Conn., Feb. 6, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Society for the Gifted and Talented (NSGT) is pleased to offer $10,000 in scholarships for students to apply towards the fees of out-of-school gifted programs.
Ten scholarships are being offered by the NSGT Board of Trustees- six at $1,000 each, six at $500 each and four at $250 each – and will be used by the selected students to help pay tuition for the submitted gifted summer, online, afterschool or weekend program they chose.
Each year, the funds are awarded to outstanding students who demonstrate excelled ability in their field of interest. Students can download and complete the scholarship application at www.nsgt.org. A team of educators in the field of gifted education will review the applications and choose the scholarship winners. Applications must be received by March 28, 2014. Winners will be notified on April 18, 2014.
The Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG), a not-for-profit program of NSGT and renowned gifted summer program, has welcomed several recipients of the Board of Trustees Scholarships in the past. The NSGT scholarships have also afforded students the opportunity to participate in such programs as the Cambridge College Program, Duke TIP, and Northwestern CTD, among others.
