Broadcast Interactive Media's BIMvid Live Enables Local Stations to Stream Major Live Events

Live Streaming of Seattle's Super Bowl Victory Parade Pulls 200,000 Viewers

MADISON, Wis., Feb. 19, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Broadcast Interactive Media (BIM), today announced that BIMvid Live, the company's end-to-end video platform with live streaming technology, has helped local television stations create significant online audiences around major live events. Most recently it was deployed by two Seattle stations covering the Seahawks' Super Bowl victory parade. Between the two stations, over 200,000 unique viewers tuned in to the live streams hosted on their respective websites.

The BIMvid infrastructure is capable of delivering live streams to just a few or a few hundred thousand or more viewers on desktops, tablets, and mobile devices. Traffic levels for the parade were 80 times higher than on a typical day, and reached more users than anything a station on the BIMvid network has streamed before.

"This was by far BIMvid Live's biggest traffic event yet, and we're extremely happy with the results. Our cloud-based infrastructure smoothly handled the extreme load of having two intensely popular streams in the same geographic region," says Michael Worringer, BIMvid video products director. "It was a great demonstration of the strength of the platform."
