The DLA is the U.S. Department of Defense's largest logistics combat support agency, providing worldwide logistics support, acquisition and technical services in both peacetime and wartime to the military services as well as several civilian agencies and foreign countries. This new agreement expands Exide's existing relationship with the DLA and comes on the heels of the Company's recent recognition by the agency for quality performance as one of the government's best suppliers.

According to the terms of the three-year contract, Exide will supply the Exide® Military 6TAGM battery to the DLA for use by the U.S. armed forces in their fleets of rolling stock vehicles. The 6TAGM battery joins the other 6T family of batteries for military applications that the Company provides to the DLA.

"Exide is the only full-line manufacturer of 6T batteries in dry, flooded (wet-acid filled), and AGM configurations, and our comprehensive military portfolio of high quality products is well-suited for rigorous applications," said Allan Hillyer, Director of Sales – Military and Government Segment for Exide Technologies. "As a major long-term supplier of qualified military batteries for Prime Government Contracts and original-equipment military manufacturers, we look forward to providing the DLA with our most advanced 6T battery in support of our nation's warfighters."

The Exide® Military 6TAGM battery is an ideal power source for selected military vehicles; key product benefits include:

  • Higher power and longer cycle life than comparable flooded product;
  • Sealed, maintenance-free, non-spillable® (under normal operating conditions), and air-transportable;
  • Designed, produced, and qualified to meet or exceed Military Specification MIL-PRF-32143.

"Our new agreement with the Defense Logistics Agency underscores the excellent engineering, innovative technology, and technical support of our products for military applications," said Bob Caruso, President and Chief Executive Officer of Exide Technologies. "The award of this contract expands and strengthens Exide's long-standing partnership with the DLA and enables our Company to broaden supply of premium quality product that conforms to all applicable military specification requirements."

Exide will supply the DLA its 6TAGM batteries from its manufacturing facility in Columbus, Georgia.
