DES MOINES, IA--(Marketwired - Mar 18, 2014) - Leaders of the magazine fulfillment business, including Malcolm Netburn, chairman and CEO of industry-leader CDS Global, will tackle some of the game-changing issues of publishing at a forum Wednesday in New York City.
The panel discussion at the Princeton Club in Manhattan is hosted by the Fulfillment Management Association (FMA), which is based in New York City and has ties to publishers nationwide. Topics will range from implications of the new subscription economy to real-time marketing and the value of consumer research in a world increasingly segmented by sophisticated data analysis.
The business of managing subscriptions, product sales and other aspects of customer service on behalf of a client is a highly specialized arm of the publishing industry. At the heart of the industry is the close relationship between readers and magazines. CDS Global manages data on nearly 160 million consumers it serves on behalf of hundreds of brands, all to help publishers enhance their relationships with subscribers.
"There's no question that the media industry has been disrupted by shifts in the nature of consumers and in the technologies we employ to serve them," says Netburn, a former publisher himself and a member of the FMA's Hall of Fame. "But this is an era of empowerment for consumers, who are better served by our new abilities, and an era of excitement for publishers as we all explore new ways to share the information that consumers want."
Netburn will be joined in Wednesday's "Ask the Presidents" forum by other leaders of the fulfillment industry on a panel moderated by Bill Mickey, editorial director of Audience Development magazine. The FMA forum is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Princeton Club, 15 W. 43rd St., New York.
