HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - Apr 7, 2014) - IntelliClear today announced the selection of the UNICEF's Children of Syria United States Fund as the 2013 recipient of its annual Clarity Trust donation. Under the yearly program, IntelliClear contributes 1% of its corporate profits to an outstanding charity as part of an on-going corporate commitment to supporting worldwide communities and charitable activities.
"The dire situation of the children caught in the ongoing conflict for political control of Syria made the cause this year a glaringly obvious one. Among the various charities we monitor, UNICEF is exceptionally well positioned to benefit the affected children," says Eric Shuster, President and CEO of IntelliClear. "The Syrian conflict has created refugees and orphaned children inside Syria, and also in neighboring countries like Turkey and Jordan. UNICEF is able to reach the affected children and to provide multi-faceted and balanced support to cover their immediate needs," adds Alex Kalamarides, Ph.D., Managing Director and General Partner of IntelliClear.
A permanent part of the United Nations, UNICEF is active in all parts of the globe. Over 90% of its annual worldwide income of approximately $4 billion goes to its programs, mainly in the area of greatest long-term need, sub-Saharan Africa. To address the needs of the 5.6 million Syrian children affected, UNICEF projects that $835 million will be needed in 2014; of that amount only about 10% had been raised by the end of the first quarter of 2014.
Past recipients of the IntelliClear Clarity Trust have included Katrina Relief, Red Cross, Springs Rescue Mission, Doctors without Borders, Heartgift, Choice Humanitarian, SOS Children's Villages of Greece, and Children's Aid Society of New York. IntelliClear encourages companies of all sizes to exercise corporate responsibility, including regular charitable donations to worthy causes around the globe.
