DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - Apr 22, 2014) - P2 Energy Solutions ("P2") today announced that Léo Apotheker, who played an instrumental role in transforming German software corporation SAP from a single-product business into a multi-solution provider, has been appointed to P2's Board of Directors.
The former SAP chief executive is accompanied by fellow board members Mike McCrory, IHS's former president and COO, and Harry Debes, who served as Lawson Software's CEO for six years in the mid-2000s. Advent International Managing Director Chris Egan, Advent Principal Eric Wei, and P2 President and CEO Charles Goodman also sit on the board. Advent acquired P2 from Vista Equity Partners in November 2013.
"P2 has been able to establish itself as the recognized leader in the upstream oil and gas software space because of its solid product portfolio and sound execution in business matters," Apotheker said. "I look forward to sharing my experiences and helping P2's customers around the world achieve their business objectives."
Apotheker, who was promoted to co-CEO of SAP in 2008 after serving as deputy CEO, helped establish SAP as the global leader in its category. SAP recruited Apotheker in 1988 to add the French and Belgian markets to the organization's footprint. Apotheker left the Walldorf, Germany-based organization a few years later to co-found ECsoft, one of the largest European venture capital start-ups. He returned to SAP in 1995 and rapidly rose through the company's ranks.
After a 22-year career at SAP, Apotheker was elected by HP's Board of Directors as the information technology company's president and CEO. He currently is the chairman of KMD AS and also sits on the boards of NICE Systems, Schneider Electric and UNIT4.
"I am extremely pleased and honored to welcome Léo to our team," Goodman said. "Having someone of his caliber at P2 is a tremendous asset to our board and our organization as a whole. His extensive software experience and global knowledge will be invaluable as P2 continues to grow and develop more ways to better meet upstream companies' evolving needs."
Apotheker graduated in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in economics and international relations from Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In 2007 he was awarded the French Légion d'honneur, France's highest decoration, for his business leadership and contributions to the French economy.
Fluent in five languages (Dutch, English, French, German and Hebrew), Apotheker and his wife of 37 years, Lilian, have two children, Mathieu and Jessica.
