SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwired - Apr 24, 2014) - Beamz Interactive, Inc. (
During the "Rock for Williams" benefit concert, the Beamz interactive music system will be demonstrated from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm. In addition, an auction will take place at the event to win a brand new Beamz system, which has proven to be an innovative intervention tool used in many education and healthcare facilities to teach basic learning concepts and facilitate therapeutic outcomes with people of all ages and all types of disabilities.
"We are honored to be invited to participate in Rock for Williams," said Mary Jo Barry, Director of Marketing at Beamz Interactive. "As a resident of the city of Maricopa, it's nice to have the opportunity to get behind a local establishment like Raceway, as well as an organization like the Williams Syndrome Association. Moreover, it's exciting to be able to showcase Beamz in this light -- being used as an instructional tool for kids with Williams -- which is one of the areas where we are extremely effective. Imagine teaching a basic skill like directionality with lasers and music over traditional methods. Learning left, right, top and bottom seem much more fun when the reward is interactive music at your fingertips."
Beamz has been particularly effective in the realm of music therapy, working with individuals who are physically disabled and who may not be able to hold traditional instruments, and with children with disabilities like Autism and Williams syndrome, two groups who seem to be particularly responsive to instruction and activities delivered through music.
Children with Williams syndrome need costly and ongoing medical care, and early interventions (such as speech or occupational therapy) that may not be covered by insurance or state funding. As they grow, they struggle with things like spatial relations, numbers and abstract reasoning, which can make daily tasks a challenge.
The Rock for Williams benefit concert is being organized by Mike and Sarah Giddings of the Williams Syndrome Association ("WSA"). In addition, Rand and Jeanna Del Cotto, owners of Raceway Bar and Grill are bringing Phoenix area musicians to help "spread the word" about Williams syndrome and raise critical funding for research programs. Additional activities at the concert will include a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and more.
Those in Arizona are encouraged to come out and support families affected by Williams syndrome and the WSA. For more information about this event, please visit: www.williams-syndrome.org/rock-williams.
