Entropic to Show Feature-Rich and Innovative Cable Silicon Solutions That Minimize Set-Top Box Complexity to Simplify and Speed Service Deployment

SAN DIEGO, April 28, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Entropic (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, today announced it will exhibit at The Cable Show 2014, in booth #2001, from April 29-May 1, 2014. The Cable Show is hosted by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA), and gathers leaders in broadband, advanced technology and content creation to influence and shape the agenda in the multi-billion dollar cable industry.

In booth #2001, Entropic will demonstrate:

  • OPEN DEVELOPMENT SOLUTIONS. The Company will highlight the Entropic Open RDK System-on-a-Chip (SoC) platform leveraging the OpenEmbedded core technology and the Yocto Project™ development environment. By using Entropic's Open RDK platform, operators implementing RDK can save significant software development time and resources by taking advantage of proven software components and software reuse. The Company will also demonstrate how partners like Opera are advancing web browsing capabilities with the Chromium/Blink engine for future RDK implementations on a set-top box (STB).

  • SMALL FORM FACTOR SET-TOP DEVICES. Entropic's STB innovations reduce the size and power consumption of traditional STBs without sacrificing performance. The Company will feature new "set-back boxes" including an HDMI IP-based STB stick and the new STB Plug, both of which support broadcast quality conditional access security. Entropic will also demonstrate its powerful MoCA® 2.0 (Multimedia over Coax Alliance) USB bus-powered adapter that is the smallest MoCA device to extend connectivity throughout the home.

  • SIMPLE, RELIABLE DEPLOYMENT FOR ANY CABLE ENVIRONMENT. With consumer interest for 4K content, Entropic will have on display its latest 4K upscaling solution. Additionally, Entropic will showcase new IP-Client devices based on its integrated, single-chip SoC, which includes HEVC, MoCA 2.0 and enhanced 3D graphics to support operators' migration to a gateway/client architecture.
