Dave Trafford to Be Presented With Distinguished Service Award

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 30, 2014) - RTDNA Canada - The Association of Electronic Journalists - will recognize a long-standing member of the association with the Distinguished Service Award. This award honours a member who has played a major role in the continuing success of RTDNA Canada. It is presented in recognition and appreciation of outstanding contribution and exemplary distinguished service rendered for the benefit and advancement of electronic journalism and RTDNA Canada.

Dave Trafford is an award winning broadcast journalist who has reported from five national capitals and every province in Canada. He has earned accolades for his coverage of local, national and international stories and is a RTDNA Sam Ross winner for editorial commentary.

But above all, Dave's news teams over the years have distinguished themselves through their award winning local news coverage.

Dave is one of the founders of University of Toronto Community Radio, CIUT FM. He has taught broadcast journalism at Humber College and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Western Ontario, Journalism Dept. He also mentors and coaches young musicians, performers, athletes and broadcasters, and is an award winning musician and songwriter.

A long time active member of Radio Television Digital News Association, Dave has been News Director at AM640, (1992-99), Newstalk1010 CFRB, (2002-2011) and is currently in the News Director's chair at Global Toronto.

Dave will be presented with the Distinguished Service Award during the RTDNA President's Award Reception in Toronto, June 6, 2014.
