CAMPBELL, CA--(Marketwired - May 7, 2014) - Exalt Communications, Inc., the leading innovator of next-generation wireless connectivity systems for private networks and Internet infrastructures, today announced that Al-Jazeera Telecom of Baghdad, Iraq has deployed Exalt ExtremeAir all-outdoor microwave backhaul systems to provide Gigabit per-second (Gbps) connectivity to its core Internet network.
The wireline and fiber infrastructure in Baghdad can be unreliable, but Exalt zero-footprint ExtremeAir systems deliver Gigabit-speed connectivity with high reliability and security. The Exalt systems extend 35 kilometers, unifying a key segment of Al Jazeera's Internet network.
"We strive to deliver reliable, high-speed Internet services to our customers, and we can't always rely on the fiber network to deliver our traffic," said Rafal Hussein Al-Musawi, CEO of Al-Jazeera Telecom. "The Exalt systems give us a Gigabit connection that's completely reliable."
Al Jazeera is one of the leading Internet service providers in Iraq. It was founded in 2004 and uses fiber, copper, and wireless technologies to deliver high-performance Internet services to its customers. The company plans to deploy additional Exalt systems as it expands its network in the coming months and years.
"Delivering reliable and secure Internet access across geographies and in extreme climates is a challenge for service providers throughout the world, especially when wireline infrastructure is scarce, unreliable, or far too expensive," said Amir Zoufonoun, CEO of Exalt. "Add to that the rising customer use of smartphones and tablets to stream high definition video, and the challenge is multiplied exponentially. That's why it is an imperative for service providers such as Al Jazeera to select technology that not only meets today's connectivity requirements, but can scale easily to increase network capacity as needed, expand services, and connect the unconnected."
