EMSDETTEN, GERMANY--(Marketwired - May 21, 2014) - WAECO know-how has been inside the fully integrated cooling systems for decades, and from now on they are also labelled WAECO. The air conditioning specialists decided to produce them in their own factory and distribute them under the WAECO Frigo trademark. In doing so, the company can draw on a well established network of service partners.
The comfortable situation of having engineering and production integrated under one roof formed the basis for consistent product development and diversification. In a first step the WAECO Frigo design concept was thoroughly reviewed to explore scope for improvement. The WAECO specialists teamed up with Karlsruhe-based TWK GmbH, a testing and training institute for refrigeration and mobile air conditioning technology. Having the requirements of the automotive industry at the back of their minds, the researchers focused on criteria like performance, efficiency, durability and ease of servicing. The results are impressive. Using a multi-point refrigerant injection method on the evaporator they scored significant improvements in the cooling capacity. Thus enhanced, the cooling systems will easily cope with frequent door opening. Moreover, they are produced exclusively from optimised quality components which are sourced from manufacturers who have made a name for themselves in the OEM segment of the market -- e.g. compressors from Seltec and fans from market leader SPAL AUTOMOTIVE.
WAECO Frigo cooling systems consist of three basic components which can be customised to suit any type of transport vehicle suitable for retrofitting. The core component of each system is the evaporator. Selected depending on the application and the size of the cooling compartment, it determines the choice of the two other basic components, the condenser and the compressor. Optionally, the vehicle can be upgraded with a stationary cooling system or a super-fast hot gas defrosting module.
The modular design of WAECO Frigo systems speeds up installation times. It takes no more than eight to twelve hours work to make the vehicle fit for its first delivery of refrigerated goods. Or for transportation of deep-frozen products, because the range has meanwhile been expanded to include cooling kits for use with the deep-freeze refrigerant R 404a.
The well known, inherent benefits of WAECO's fully integrated cooling concept are fully retained: the evaporator is not fitted on the roof but to the ceiling of the cargo compartment where it takes up very little space. The retrofit does not alter the vehicle's appearance and aerodynamics. This, in turn, has benefits in terms of the vehicle's road performance and fuel consumption, and when passing through low driveways. Last but not least WAECO Frigo cooling systems meet all legal requirements placed on the national and cross-border transport of perishable foodstuffs. They are certified according to ATP and DIN 8958, and they comply with the HACCP principles.
