New Board Certified Tampa Veterinarians Join Cross Creek Animal Medical Centre

TAMPA, Fla., May 25, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cross Creek Animal Medical Centre announced the addition of three new Tampa veterinarians to their staff. These veterinarians are board certified surgeon Dr. Colby Burns, internist Dr. Chris Ludlow, and associate veterinarian Dr. Debra Drew. Dr. Burns specializes in providing small animal surgery, Dr. Ludlow provides clinical nutrition and gastroenterology care, and Dr. Drew focuses on general small animal medicine. The three Tampa veterinarians further enhance the veterinary specialist capabilities at Cross Creek Animal Medical Centre.

Dr. Burns is a 2006 graduate of the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine. The board certified surgeon completed a one-year small animal rotation internship at Tufts Cummings College of Veterinary Medicine and completed her small animal surgery residency at the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Burns became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2012 and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2013.

"I am thrilled to join Cross Creek Animal Medical Centre and continue the practice's long tradition of providing outstanding veterinary medical care for the Tampa community," said Dr. Burns. "Small animal fractures, hip replacements and other small animal surgical procedures can be a stressful experience for both pets and their owners. I work closely with pet owners to make the process as easy and seamless as possible. It's wonderful to bring movement back to pets for the first time."

Dr. Burns has also received certificates of completion for AO ASIF Advance Techniques in Small Animal Fracture Management, AO ASIF Principles of Small Animal Fracture Management, and BioMedtrix Total Hip Replacement courses.

Dr. Ludlow earned his DVM with honors from Kansas State University in 1986 and has worked in a variety of practice settings before focusing on Veterinary Internal Medicine Diagnostics and Gastroenterology care. The Tampa veterinarian has over 15 years of experience in ultrasound and endoscopy in university and referral hospital settings. He has lectured extensively nationally and internationally in gastroenterology and has taught endoscopy wet labs at national meetings.

"I am passionate about clinical nutrition and the best veterinary diagnostics possible," said Dr. Ludlow. "I am excited to continue offering these services."

Dr. Drew has been practicing pet health care since 1998. She also began training in small animal diagnostic ultrasonography and echocardiography before the techniques were formally introduction into routine veterinary medicine.

"My favorite part of being a veterinarian is the big smile, wag or purr when a job is well done," said Dr. Drew. "I am proud to have been at the forefront of veterinary technology now for nearly two decades, and will continue providing advanced diagnostic care to the Tampa community."
