DURHAM, NC--(Marketwired - May 29, 2014) - Amundi Smith Breeden today announced that Tarey M. Gettys has joined the firm as a Senior Vice President responsible for institutional relationships in the western United States, effective May 1. Amundi Smith Breeden is the North American investment headquarters for Amundi, the leading European asset management firm with more than $1 trillion in assets under management.
As SVP, Institutional Relationship Manager-Western U.S., Mr. Gettys is a senior member of the Amundi Smith Breeden business development and client service team. He is responsible for engaging and cultivating relationships with corporate, public, and endowment and foundation pension plan sponsors in the western region. As such, he will present Amundi's full range of U.S. and global fixed income, developed and emerging markets equity, and alternative investment strategies to the market place. Mr. Gettys reports to Stephen A. Eason, CFA, Senior Executive Vice President, and works from the firm's office in Durham, North Carolina.

Before joining Amundi Smith Breeden, Mr. Gettys was Vice President, Client Facing Investment Professional, Institutional Corporate Clients at Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO). In this role, Mr. Gettys worked closely with both defined benefit and defined contribution plan sponsors, providing them with portfolio updates, including performance, positioning and strategy shifts based on dynamic macro-economic factors in the global economy. In addition, using risk factor-based asset allocation studies, he worked closely with clients to identify or create investment solutions matched to client-specific needs and challenges. Previously, Mr. Gettys was a Generalist in the Portfolio Management Group at Pacific Alternative Asset Management Company (PAAMCO).
Before entering the financial services industry, Mr. Gettys was a United States Navy SEAL Officer, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander prior to leaving active service. Mr. Gettys was deployed on multiple combat missions and conducted numerous operations in support of national level objectives.
Mr. Gettys holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business. While there, he was President of Stanford GSB Veterans Club and founded the GSB Veterans Award Dinner. He earned a BS in Mathematics from the United States Naval Academy.
