CARLSBAD, CALIF., June 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA), in partnership with the China Real Estate Association (CREA) headquartered in Beijing, China, convenes its U.S. China Summit at the Hyatt Regency Century City in Los Angeles on June 12-13th, 2014. The event brings together two of the largest real estate markets in the world for the first time in the United States.
The Summit will feature preeminent investors, developers and urban planners who lead massive development projects in both countries to share their insights on existing near future real estate investment opportunities in the two countries.
The Summit opens with real estate developer Chang I Fei as the keynote speaker. Ms. Chang is President and CEO of Greenland US Holding Inc., the North American venture for one of the largest real estate enterprises in China. She oversees two of the firm's largest development projects in the United States; Los Angeles's Metropolis project and New York City's Atlantic Yards project. The Metropolis project is a billion dollar development that will transform a 6.3 acre parking lot in downtown Los Angeles into a space that includes two high-rise towers and a high-end hotel. The Atlantic Yards Project is a $4.9 billion project consisting of over 16 structures for designed for residential, business, and entertainment use, built over an abandoned railroad train yard. Chang I Fei's impact on the real estate is widely known throughout the industry and she will speak about how such investors are finding real estate opportunities amid changing dynamics in both countries.
Randy Richardson, the President of the retirement developer firm Vi, will speak at Summit's general session on the development of senior housing real estate projects in the United States. Richardson has taken the lead on the firm's growth initiatives, which have already yielded $1 billion in new development projects that focus on luxury senior living arrangements. Richardson will center in on the specific investment opportunities around assisted living real estate projects.
Leading developer Gerald W. Fogelson will be among those speaking at the Summit's Keynote Luncheon regarding the direction real estate development will take in the coming years. Fogelson is both the founder and CEO of the Fogelson Group of Companies, which is a conglomeration of land development ventures. Among these ventures is the Central Station development in Chicago, IL. Upon completion, this $3 billion, 80 acre development will include over 7,500 units distributed throughout a number of high-rise, mid-rise, and low-rise structures. Over the course of his career, Mr. Fogelson has been responsible for over $5 billion in real estate development.
In addition to these speakers, a number of industry leaders will also be sharing their insights about residential and commercial real estate developments throughout 6 breakout sessions covering topics in managing urban growth, data and technology, developing and financing commercial projects, 'green' building materials and technology, financing options for international buyers, and assisted senior living development.
