OKEMOS, MI--(Marketwired - Jun 12, 2014) - According to a recent study done by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), more than 20 million Americans will use campers and other recreation vehicles to explore the outdoors this summer. Because June is National Camping Month, the Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC) encourages everyone to get out and explore Michigan's natural beauty through this fun activity.
Whether a veteran RVer or first-time camper, MARVAC is sharing these summer tips to help you enjoy camping during National Camping Month and beyond.
- Plan a trip. Perhaps the most important aspect of celebrating National Camping Month is booking a camping vacation. Think about areas of Michigan that you've always wanted to explore, take a look at your schedule to find an appropriate time, find a campground and look forward to getting outdoors!
- Do your research. This can mean anything from researching the sights around where you will be camping to speaking with campground employees about the amenities you can take advantage of during your stay.
- If you're traveling with children, get them excited about camping. This can be done by talking to them about the special sights you will see and the aspects of living in an RV that are different from their year-round home.
- Enjoy yourself. The purpose of a vacation is to enjoy yourself and come back feeling refreshed and re-energized. Camping provides the perfect opportunity for this. Getting back outdoors has been proven to reduce stress, making you feel happier even when you return to daily life.
With more than 1,000 campgrounds to choose from, Michiganders and visitors alike are sure to find a way to put these tips into practice across the state. Visit www.marvac.org for resources from campgrounds to RV manufacturers and get ready for your Michigan summer getaway.
