Dr. Judith McLeod, DNP, Program Director of the RN-BSN and MSN Programs at Stanbridge College, Has Been Named the 2014 Professional Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 29, 2014) - Stanbridge College, a private college that offers Masters, Bachelor, and Associate of Science degrees and diploma programs in Allied Health and Information Technology, recognizes the achievement of Dr. Judith McLeod, DNP, as the 2014 Professional Woman of the Year by the National Association of Professional Women. Dr. McLeod is the Program Director of the Stanbridge College RN-BSN degree completion and Master of Science in Nursing programs. This award honors her for her leadership in nursing.

President of Stanbridge College, Mr. Yasith Weerasuryia stated, "We are very pleased to have Dr. McLeod be a part of our School of Nursing. She is a critical component to our operation and her years of experience bring an immeasurable value to our institution and academic services for our students. We laud her recognition from the National Association of Professional Women."

Dr. McLeod leads Stanbridge's RN-BSN and MSN programs with over 40 years of experience in the nursing field. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, earned her Master of Science in Nursing from California State University, Long Beach and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, Fullerton. Prior to that, Dr. McLeod earned her Diploma from the Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing. Before joining Stanbridge College, she was a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for more than ten years at Kaiser Permanente in Fontana, California.

"As a little girl I knew I wanted to be in the medical field," stated Dr. McLeod. "My mother was a surgical nurse and I grew up hearing medical stories from her. At Johns Hopkins and throughout my training, there were always high expectations for me to do my best. I promised my mom I would get a degree and I made sure I went all the way to earn my doctorate."

Throughout her career, Dr. McLeod worked in a variety of areas in nursing including community health and home healthcare. It was ultimately pediatrics where she found her passion. With a strong emphasis on family, Dr. McLeod enjoyed her work as a labor and delivery nurse, working with new families and enjoying seeing the moment of birth.

"It's really important to learn from everything you do," stated Dr. McLeod. "At the moment you may question why things happen, and then later on you realize it happened for a reason. Your passion will help you get to the place you need to be."

Dr. McLeod continues to expand her experiences in nursing and hopes one day to start and manage a community health clinic offering services to the local Orange County community with opportunities for students to learn interdisciplinary skills.
