Remind, Messaging App for Education, Now Available Worldwide

New Product Version 4.1 Offers Teachers, Students and Parents a Free, Safe and Simple Way to Connect

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 30, 2014) - Remind, the secure mobile communication product for teachers, students, and parents, today announced a new version of the product (4.1) currently used by 1 out of 5 teachers in the United States to increase levels of connection in and outside the classroom. In addition, for the first time, Remind is available globally for teachers, parents and students outside the US and Canada.

Remind is on a path to connect every teacher, student, and parent in the world to improve education. Using a teacher-centric approach, Remind aims to make communication easier and more efficient among teachers, students and parents -- leveraging the power of connection to make education better.

Teachers from around the world can create classes by using Remind on the web or by downloading the application. They can add students and parents to their classes and send secure messages including assignment reminders, photos, and documents directly to students' and parents' phones via push notifications. Also, with the new release of the product, teachers can connect Remind to their mobile address book or choose to add contact information manually, making the process of inviting students and parents to join classes faster and more efficient.

"We've listened to feedback from thousands of teachers who use Remind. They are overwhelmed with an incredible amount of pressure. The goal behind Remind is to constantly think about how to make teachers' jobs easier so they have more time to focus on what matters for their students," said Brett Kopf, co-founder and CEO of Remind. "We continue to add functionality like making it easier to add contacts in this new version to streamline day-to-day teacher tasks and ensure that critical information reaches students as well as parents. We are looking forward to welcoming more teachers from around the world, to hear their feedback and continue making richer connections between teachers and students."

Teacher Feedback: Opening the Lines of Communication

"Remind made everything easier for me right from the start -- I'm able to connect with students and parents in ways I could not before. I can send essential information about field trips or tests coming up, or simply send encouraging notes to celebrate what the kids accomplished that day in class," said Todd Nesloney, Principal/Lead Learner, Navasota Independent School District. "About 80 percent of parents signed up right away and have seen the impact on their children immediately. I've never seen something make such an immediate impact and I can't wait to roll it out at my entire school this year."

"Keeping the parents informed of our daily class activities and schedules in an easy-to-access manner has transformed my classroom," said Jessica Deon, 5th grade teacher at Rosepine Elementary School in Rosepine, Louisiana. "I know without a doubt that parents are following their children's progress in my classroom much more closely. They feel involved and appreciate my efforts to keep them updated. When I call to discuss a concern or problem, I have noticed more willingness from parents to help."

Global Availability

As of July 30, the English version Remind 4.1 is available worldwide in Apple and Android app stores for free. SMS will still be available in the United States and Canada. Communication is always safe because phone numbers are always kept private and messages are one-way only.

The New Remind App Brings Connection to the Class

Remind app is available not only to teachers, but also to students and parents who can now manage all their Remind messages in one place. Some of the core benefits of using Remind include:

  • Parental notification for students under 13 - With improved privacy flows for students under 13, parents are notified when their child signs up for Remind.
  • Safety - Teachers never see students' phone numbers and vice versa, preserving privacy and ensuring safety.
  • Accessibility - Students and parents can use mobile phones or emails to receive messages from their teachers, without the need for a smartphone.
  • One-to-many - Messages go to the entire class, and students and parents can't reply, saving teachers from having to manage another inbox.
  • Audit trail - A log of all sent messages is kept if needed for any administration or audit needs.
