Volkswagen Canada Sales Continue to Heat Up

AJAX, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Aug. 1, 2014) - Just as summer temperatures have skyrocketed, so have sales at Volkswagen Canada. In July, the company established a new all-time record with sales of 7,706 new cars and light trucks through the company's 136 dealers. This bested last year's figure by 51%. Year-to-date, 38,322 new Volkswagens have been sold in Canada, a 5% increase over last year's record pace.

In its first full month on the market, the all-new, 7^th generation 2015 Golf proved extremely popular. Combined sales of the Golf family, including the sporty GTI and roomy Golf Wagon numbered 1,623.

The top-selling car in the Volkswagen lineup continues to be the Jetta sedan. Now offering an all-new, 1.8 litre direct-injected turbocharged engine, the Jetta delivers European styling and dynamics coupled with roominess normally seen only in much larger vehicles. During July, a total of 3,639 Jettas were sold.

Coming next month, the Golf will join the Jetta, Passat, Beetle, Golf Wagon and Touareg in offering a TDI Clean Diesel engine option. These engines have been further optimized for the 2015 model year and now offer even more power despite improving fuel efficiency by almost 10%.
