MORRISTOWN, N.J., Aug. 27, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Louis Berger has secured a fourth contract extension for independent engineering services at the Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) in Amman, Jordan. Under this contract, with a total value of more than $15 million, Louis Berger will continue to provide independent engineering services to the rehabilitation and expansion program.

During the new project phase, Louis Berger will perform duties during the construction of additional 46,500 square-meter passenger terminal area, eight aircraft contact gates, eight remote boarding gates, four super fixed link bridges that can handle either a single wide-body aircraft or two narrow-body aircraft simultaneously in arrival and departure modes, 10 moving walkways, 15 elevators and 18 escalators. The finished terminal will have the capacity to process nine million passengers per year, with the potential site capacity to process 12 million per year. The program's completion date is scheduled for mid-2016.
Louis Berger's previous services at QAIA were performed during the construction of a new 100,000 square-meter, 14-gate passenger terminal building as well as improvements to existing airside and landside facilities. Full operations were transferred to the new terminal last March. Louis Berger provided operations monitoring support during the eight-hour overnight transfer.
QAIA was named one of the world's top 40 public-private partnerships in 2013, receiving a 'gold' distinction as one of the best emerging market infrastructure projects by the Public-Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility.
