EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Sept. 14, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- El Segundo optometrist Dr. Michael Hansen is proud to announce a new El Segundo location for Advanced Eye Care. The new facility allows the practice to serve a larger geographic area and bring new services to patients.
In addition to opening a second location, Dr. Hansen is introducing new technology for eye disease diagnosis: the Zeiss Cirrus HD Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) device. "This new technology," Dr. Hansen said, "allows us to not only diagnose many eye diseases faster, but more accurately as well." The OCT device, available at the Manhattan Beach location, checks the retina for glaucoma and more. "This equipment isn't widely available yet, so we're really pleased to be able to offer it to our patients," Dr. Hansen added.
Dr. Hansen says he is excited to explain what the OCT device means for his patients. He explains the device as one that takes highly detailed photographs of the retina. The richness of the images allows optometrists, he says, to make fast and accurate diagnosis of conditions long before they would have been able without the assistance of this new technology.
The Zeiss Cirrus HD device is one that isn't typically found in optometry practices. That's one reason Dr. Hansen is so thrilled to offer it in his Manhattan Beach practice. He says he believes it's something that sets his practice apart from others in the area.
"Early detection," he warned, "is necessary to effectively treat many eye conditions and absolutely critical when hoping to avert the worsening of many eye conditions. The earlier you know about a vision problem, the sooner you can begin the treatment process in an effort to stall any further development. We can also begin working to eliminate some conditions altogether."
The Redondo Beach location was opened in an effort to serve the South Bay Los Angeles area. Dr. Hansen believes that by extending his practice, he can serve the community better.
People throughout El Segundo, particularly in the Manhattan Beach community, are encouraged to schedule appointments today. "Your eye health," said Dr. Hansen, "is an investment in your future. It's important to stay on top of eye health by scheduling yearly screenings in addition to diagnostic appointments when signs of troubles arise."
The Advanced Eye Care El Segundo location accepts appointments on weekdays and is closed on Saturday and Sunday. Some evening hours are available for those who need them in order to accommodate busy schedules of area residents. Those who need Saturday appointments are still free to take advantage of Saturday appointments in the Redondo Beach location.
In addition to offering the OCT device, services at the clinics include comprehensive eye exams, contact lenses, and eye glass frame selection.
