BUFFALO, NY--(Marketwired - Oct 2, 2014) - Liazon, operator of the industry-leading private benefits exchange for businesses, was recently named as a Best Place to Work in Insurance and a Best Place to Work in New York City, by Business Insurance and Crain's New York Business, respectively. These accolades further validate Liazon's outstanding company culture and its position as one of New York's best employers, as well as one of the best in the commercial insurance market nationally. This is the third time in a row Liazon has appeared on Business Insurance's list and the first time to be recognized by Crain's.
The Best Places to Work in Insurance program identifies and recognizes high-quality workplaces in the commercial insurance industry and honors companies for creating workplaces that do superior jobs of encouraging employees to thrive in a workplace they can love. Best Places to Work in New York City is a survey and recognition program dedicated to identifying and recognizing New York City's best employers. Both recognitions were garnered through employee feedback and a comprehensive evaluation of workplaces policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics.
"I strive to create an environment where employees feel empowered to challenge the status quo, and to develop the groundbreaking ideas that truly make this industry better," said Ashok Subramanian, co-founder and CEO of Liazon. "Our culture isn't defined by a set of rules, rather it's defined by a common mission and by integrity, trust and shared values. It's why we come to work every day."
One of the keys to Liazon's success as a business has been its company culture. Its executives go a long way to foster openness through regularly scheduled town hall meetings and other company-wide events. The Liazon team recently came together to celebrate the opening of its newest office in Buffalo, NY on July 10, which earned official proclamation as Liazon Day in Buffalo and Erie County. Liazon is also a participating company of START-UP New York -- Governor Cuomo's signature economic development initiative that taps into business and university resources to spur economic growth -- based on its rapid expansion of technology and operations in Western NY, including plans to hire 500 new team members over the next five years.
The sixth annual Best Places to Work in Insurance was created in conjunction with Harrisburg, PA- based Best Companies Group and Business Insurance magazine, and recognized 75 insurance industry companies across the U.S. Now in its seventh year, the Best Places to Work in New York City award was produced by Crain's New York Business, the Human Resource Association of New York and the Society of Human Resource Management. Additionally, Best Companies Group conducted surveys that measured employee satisfaction and engagement, culture and the overall employee experience. The employee survey accounted for 75 percent of the ranking, while the remaining 25 percent was a broader evaluation of the company and its policies at large.
