WASHINGTON, Nov. 5, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bank of Georgetown Senior Vice President and Maryland Commercial Market Leader Gerard McLoughlin has been named one of 10 Next Leaders in Banking by the Maryland Bankers Association and The Warren Group. Next Leaders is an annual award that recognizes the up and coming stars of the Maryland banking industry.
"It is a pleasure to recognize and honor the hard work and dedication of the recipients of the 2014 Next Leaders Award," said Timothy M. Warren Jr., CEO of The Warren Group. "Each individual's approach to their profession represents a true passion for their work and an admirable commitment to the communities in which they serve."
McLoughlin joined Bank of Georgetown in 2007 as vice president, commercial lending; he was promoted to his current role in 2011. As head of the Maryland lending team, McLoughlin identifies and implements creative financial solutions for nonprofits, commercial & industrial (C&I) and commercial real estate businesses. Under his direction, the Maryland team's loan portfolio has grown substantially and the Bank has greatly expanded its footprint throughout suburban Maryland.
"Gerard excels in assessing and ascertaining what he needs, how to get there, and then directing the group's efforts toward that end. He holds everyone appropriately accountable for their responsibilities, yet creates momentum and enthusiasm toward achieving goals," said Bank of Georgetown Chairman, President and CEO Mike Fitzgerald. "I am excited about our future in the Maryland market with him at the helm."
McLoughlin is a 2013 graduate of Leadership Montgomery, a highly-regarded organization that provides intensive hands-on study of current issues facing the County. He is vice president and past treasurer of the Ivymount Corporation Board serving Bethesda's Ivymount School, which provides school and community-based services for children with special needs. McLoughlin is past president of the Catholic Business Network of Montgomery County and is active in St. Jane de Chantal parish.
McLoughlin earned a master's in business administration from Marymount University and a bachelor's degree in communications from Fordham University.
