no 92/14 Nasdaq Commodities welcomes Latvenergo AS as new Clearing Member and Market Maker for EPAD RIGA

Nasdaq Commodities is pleased to welcome Latvenergo AS as new Clearing Member (CM) in the commodities market. Latvenergo AS has signed up as Market Maker for the Latvian Electricity Price Area Differential, EPAD RIGA, contracts.

Uldis Bariss, Chief Commercial Officer Latvenergo AS, said: “We have undertaken extra responsibilities, but we believe that the opportunity to develop and improve the electricity market in Latvia will benefit every electricity trader – including those who are only starting to consider involvement in the Latvian market. The new financial instrument will promote competition and improve electricity price offers for all market participants, including households in Latvia, which will also enter the market in 2015.”

Welcoming Latvenergo AS as Market Maker for EPAD RIGA, Georg Aasen, Vice President Nasdaq Commodities, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Latvenergo to our market and that the company has taken on the responsibility as Market Maker. This is a strategically interesting expansion for Nasdaq Commodities and will contribute to strengthen our position as the most liquid and efficient power market in Europe even more.”

The contracts are available for trading and clearing as of November 11, 2014.
