San Diego, CA

SAN DIEGO, Nov. 13, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Novatel Wireless (Nasdaq:MIFI) today announced that it has been named a 2015 CES Innovation Awards Honoree for the Verizon 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MiFi® 6620L, the most powerful hotspot ever. Products entered in this prestigious program are judged by a preeminent panel of independent industrial designers, independent engineers and members of the trade media to honor outstanding design and engineering in cutting edge consumer electronics products across 28 product categories.

The global-ready MiFi 6620L mobile hotspot is the first Verizon Wireless Jetpack® that connects up to 15 devices to the Verizon XLTE network supporting up to 20 hours of use on a single charge, and in some cases more. It uniquely doubles as a charger for smartphones and tablets in need of a battery boost, without compromising performance and connectivity.

Products chosen as CES Innovation Honorees reflect innovative design and engineering in some of the most cutting edge tech products and services coming to market.

"It is an honor to be recognized once again by a distinguished panel of industry luminaries for the powerful MiFi 6620L mobile hotspot," Slim Souissi, President and Chief Operations Officer at Novatel Wireless. "This award highlights our dedication to innovation and the design of meaningful solutions that address the connectivity needs of our customers."

The prestigious CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the producer of the International CES, the global gathering place for all who thrive on the business of consumer technology, and have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976.

The MiFi 6620L mobile hotspot by Novatel Wireless will be displayed at the 2015 International CES, which runs Jan. 6-9, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Honorees were also displayed at CES Unveiled New York earlier this week.

Entries are evaluated on their engineering, aesthetic and design qualities, intended use/function and user value, how the design and innovation of the product directly compares to other products in the marketplace and unique/novel features present.

Additional features that qualified the MiFi 6620L mobile hotspot for this award include UL 2853 certification for environmentally preferable design and advanced security benefits not found on other mobile hotspots such as, enterprise-grade protection and VPN pass-through, parental controls, anti-spoofing, hacker prevention, and more.

2015 CES Innovation Honoree products are featured on CESweb.org/Innovation, which lists product categories, as well as each product name, manufacturer information, description, photo and URL.
