Mission to Mars Seeks Support From the Stars!

Many of us have watched our favourite TV and film stars bring the magic of space exploration to life and dreamed that someday we too could explore other planets. Now, an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign is hoping to make that dream a reality.

Northern Light is a mission to send a lander and micro-rover, called Beaver, to the surface of Mars in 2018. For over a decade, the Northern Light team has been developing and testing their equipment. They have flown in space Northern Light's primary science instrument, the Argus spectrometer. And they have refurbished Canada's largest radio antenna at the Algonquin Radio Observatory to serve as the mission's ground station.

With these crucial elements in place, Northern Light seeks support from celebrities who believe in the importance of space exploration to help get the message out.

"Northern Light represents a new approach to space exploration," says Quine. "The mission will succeed because of support from people who share our vision and believe in our dream."

Northern Light has unveiled a promotional video narrated by Ed Robertson of the Barenaked Ladies, who wrote the Big Bang Theory theme song.
