BalaBit Adds New Security and Support Capabilities to Its Industry-Leading Log Management Tool syslog-ng Premium Edition

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Dec 2, 2014) - BalaBit (www.balabit.com), an IT security innovator specializing in log management and advanced monitoring technologies, today announced the launch of syslog-ng Premium Edition™ version 5F2. With syslog-ng Premium Edition, organizations can centralize and simplify their log management infrastructure to improve operations, gain visibility of security threats, and meet compliance requirements.

The syslog-ng Premium Edition enables enterprises to collect, filter, normalize, forward, and store log messages from across their IT environment. The syslog-ng Premium Edition 5F2 gives organizations even more functionality to address data privacy concerns and enhance interoperability, and includes the addition of new server platform support.

In the latest premium version, syslog-ng can mask sensitive data in logs to protect individual privacy, also referred to as anonymization, and can also provide user re-identification in the event of security concerns. Private data can be anonymized on remote hosts providing scalability, even in large networks.

To improve syslog-ng's interoperability, BalaBit added support for the journald logging daemon, part of the recently introduced systemd management daemon to directly read logs from the journald system service. The latest version of syslog-ng can also send e-mails for alerting purposes using the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) to one or more addresses based on incoming log messages.

Part of the syslog-ng Premium Edition's appeal is its support for a broad range of server platforms. Vendor-tested installation packages are available for more than 50 server platforms. The latest version adds support for three new server platforms; CentOS 7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, and Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr).
