Country's Leading Biofuels Advocate Launches 1st Canadian Bioeconomy Conference

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - December 02, 2014) - Approximately 250 industry professionals and leading experts in Canada's bioeconomy have gathered in Toronto, Ontario for the inaugural Canadian Bioeconomy Conference, December 1-3, 2014.

Since 1984, the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association (CRFA) has been the leading, national voice for clean-burning, renewable fuels in Canada. While this conference continues to be a national showcase for the ethanol and biodiesel industry, this year's event will see a shift in focus, with greater attention placed on its relationship with the broader bioeconomy in Canada. 

The theme of this year's event, "From Biofuels to Bioeconomy," reflects the continually evolving advancements in Canada's renewable fuels industry, as outlined in the CRFA's new vision and action plan Evolution and Growth. This premier policy event brings together professionals from across North America including leading petroleum, ethanol and biodiesel companies, trade suppliers, government officials and members of the finance and investment industries.

"Today, Canada has a viable, domestic renewable fuels industry that eliminates 4.2 megatonnes of carbon emissions every year -- the equivalent of removing 1 million cars from the road," said Andrea Kent, CRFA President. "We've been building Canada's renewable fuels industry for 30 years and our ethanol and biodiesel facilities are poised to become true biorefineries -- the growth of Canadian bioeconomy is due in large part to evolving renewable fuels technology."
