Washington State Department Selects VIP and FAST for Prorate and Fuel Tax Project

FOLSOM, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 8, 2014) - Visionary Integration Professionals (VIP), a leading provider of technology solutions that drive enterprise performance, today announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide the Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL) with a fully-integrated, web-based computer system for management of the State's Prorate and Fuel Tax responsibilities. The system will be based on Fast Enterprises' (FAST's) flagship software product, GenTax®, which is the first commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) solution for integrated tax processing.

Under the terms of the agreement, the new system will support federal and local jurisdictional laws associated with commercial vehicle registration and fuel tax collection activities, and electronically connect with federal and state agency computer systems. The DOL provides numerous services related to fuel tax and commercial motor carriers, including fuel tax collection, audits, and refunds; the investigation of illegal fuel imports and dyed diesel; and commercial motor carrier registration. On an annual basis, the Department processes more than 25,000 fuel tax returns, and collects approximately $1.26 billion in fuel tax revenue.
