COO Florin Zanoaga, FirstFarms department in Eastern Romania, recently went to the capital Bucharest to receive an honour for effective and profitable field production
In Romania, the government gives honours to effective companies including so-called smaller agricultural sites. This means agricultural sites with 10-49 employees and turnover in the level of EUR 2-10 millions.
FirstFarms has two such sites in Romania, and one of them could recently bring home a third price to the Danish, stock exchange listed agricultural company.
- We are very proud of the honour for our field production, says Florin Zanoaga, COO on the price winning agricultural site.
He explains that the background for winning is hard work, good management, low costs and a good organisation. These elements all together lead to a good revenue.
- So we can also pay tax to the Exchequer, and it is appreciated by the government, he says.
Minister awards the trophies
It is not done with a low-key approach when honours like these are awarded. The minister of EU-funds in Romania, Eugen Teodorovici, personally presented the trophies to the winners.
The ceremony took place at the parliament in the capital Bucharest.
The field production in FirstFarms' site in Eastern Romania constitutes 4,315 hectares. Of these wheat on 2,254 hectares, sunflower on 760 hectares, rape on 750 hectares and maize on 470 hectares. And a further 81 hectares with other crops.
The yields in 2014 (2013 in brackets) were 4.8 (5.2) ton wheat per hectare, 2.7 (2.7) ton sunflower per hectare, 3.7 (3.7) ton rape per hectare and 9.5 (12.3) ton maize per hectare. After Romanian conditions, this is high yields.
