PARIS, France, Dec. 11, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cloudera, the leader in enterprise analytic data management powered by Apache™ Hadoop®, today announced that SFR, France's second largest telecommunications operator, has implemented an integrated Big Data ecosystem combining the Cloudera-powered enterprise data hub (EDH) with its enterprise data warehouse (EDW).
As consumers and businesses transition to a fully digital world, SFR is optimizing its customer journey through the use of technology. After an evaluation of a number of vendors and Big Data technologies, SFR selected Cloudera to help improve its end-to-end customer experience.
Amy O'Conner, Big Data evangelist at Cloudera commented, "As the proliferation of LTE, OTT apps and multiple devices per account continue apace, the amount and types of data required to provide a customer with a personalized and high level of engagement presents a number of challenges for companies when it comes to analyzing such huge volumes of data in real time.
"By providing SFR with an integrated Big Data ecosystem that incorporates the Cloudera stack -- including components like Impala, Cloudera Search, and Sentry - along with other technologies like MongoDB, Syncsort and Qlik, SFR now has the capability to meet the full end-to-end requirements of any customer and their individual journey," O'Connor added.
SFR signed up for Cloudera Enterprise, Data Hub Edition in April this year and the initial project was delivered in three phases: July, September, and the final phase this month. Using its enterprise data hub (EDH), SFR is empowering employees across France to operate based on a centralized, real-time customer view, spanning multiple devices and data sources. For the first time, SFR has the capacity to ingest, store, and analyze log data, gleaning previously hidden customer insights by combining that data with other data sets
"With such an established and integrated Big Data ecosystem, the decision to choose Cloudera was a simple one for us, and there have been immediate benefits for our customers," commented Francois Nguyen, director of BI and Corporate IT, SFR. "Further, by augmenting our relational data warehouse environment with the Cloudera platform, our data warehouse will now deliver optimal performance for eight or nine years instead of warranting an upgrade every three years."
