2015 BODYBUILDING.COM $200,000 TRANSFORMATION CHALLENGE

Keep Your New Year's Resolution and Get the Dream Body You've Always Wanted

BOISE, Idaho, Dec. 23, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In January, over half of people in the United States will set fitness or health related New Year's resolutions. Of those people, 73 percent will give up before meeting their goal, according to a survey by Harris Interactive conducted by Bodybuilding.com -- the Internet's most-visited fitness site and largest online retailer of nutritional supplements.

Whether aiming to lose weight, get fit or just be healthier, simply setting a resolution does not guarantee success. Identifying your motivation is critical. On average, people have given up on their fitness resolution goals at least four times. According to the study, people who did not successfully complete their program cited the following reasons:

·      53% didn't have the right motivation
·      23% set goals too high
·      15% claimed it was too expensive
·      14% identified their program as being too difficult

To help people overcome these challenges, Bodybuilding.com is kicking off its annual $200,000 Transformation Challenge powered by Dymatize. This year's prize is the biggest yet, adding an additional $100,000 to the prize pot from previous years. This year, three winners will be selected -- one male, one female, and one "People's Choice".

This 12-week challenge is designed to motivate and incentivize participants to achieve their health and fitness goals. Registration is free and open through January 11th, 2015. Like all visitors to bodybuilding.com, registrants will have access to free workout and nutrition programs designed by the fitness industry's best. To help motivate participants, weekly emails will include training tips, nutrition advice, supplementation suggestions, and tons of inspiration.

"One of the things that trips people up when it comes to getting fit is that it's difficult to find that perfect balance of nutrition, exercise and supplementation," said Ryan DeLuca, CEO of Bodybuilding.com. "We created the challenge years ago as a way to help people get started. It has changed thousands of lives, and we are excited to see this year's transformations."

Winners of the contest will be announced on May 11th, 2015. There will be two grand prizewinners, one male and one female, each receiving $80,000 and for the first time ever, Bodybuilding.com will crown a people's choice champion who will take home $40,000.

This challenge isn't just about what's gained, like the $200,000 up for grabs, or confidence, or muscle mass; the challenge is also about epic losses. Last year, participants lost over a combined 29,725 pounds worldwide. Last year's participants lost an incredible amount of fat, of those participants who could be classified as obese, over 1,100 of them finished the challenged no longer categorized as such. Contestants also moved an immeasurable amount of weight. In the over 200,000 workouts logged via the BodySpace app, an incredible 1.9 billion pounds were lifted.
