TORONTO, Jan. 22, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- KMI, the leading provider of EHS Management Information Systems, announced today that it is offering a new webinar on integrating safety and lean manufacturing productivity goals. The webinar, featuring Damon Nix of the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute, is scheduled for January 29, 2015 and open to manufacturing and safety professionals at no cost. Registration is available at: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/574821743711224578.
Entitled "Lean & Safe: Integrating Safety Management and Process Improvement" the webinar will:
- Identify processes with high potential for cross-departmental collaboration
- Explain how unsafe conditions and operational wastes correlate and how to eliminate them simultaneously
- Discuss how to use Lean principles to access the highest levels of hazard control
- Demonstrate how to reduce inter-organizational conflict and undesirable tradeoffs
- Show how EHS systems contribute to elevate visibility and increase collaboration
"Too often, safety and productivity goals are perceived to be in conflict. There is growing evidence that aligning safety and manufacturing goals produces superior outcomes," said Patrick Lizotte, a senior sales consultant at KMI with a background in sustainability. "By making inter-departmental peace between safety and other groups, organizations can reduce waste, improve hazard control and ultimately boost productivity."
Mr. Nix, the webinar's featured speaker, worked as a Safety Specialist with Georgia Tech's Occupational Safety and Health Consultation Program. There he provided industrial safety and ergonomic assistance to small businesses throughout Georgia. Mr. Nix continues to serve as an instructor and course developer for Georgia Tech's OSHA Training Institute Education Center. He holds a B.S. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology as well as a Master of Divinity from Mercer University.
