SEATTLE, Feb. 4, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Attorney Advertising. Keller Rohrback L.L.P. is currently investigating recent reports that four major retailers sold falsely labeled and potentially dangerous herbal supplements. GNC, Target, Walgreens, and Walmart (the "Companies") received cease-and-desist letters on Monday, February 2, demanding that the Companies explain how they verify the ingredients in their herbal supplements.
The cease and desist notification to stop selling store-brand herbal supplements came after tests showed these supplements did not usually contain the ingredients advertised. These tests ordered by the attorney general's office showed that, overall, 79% of these supplements either did not contain the key ingredient or contained other undisclosed materials. The test results showed specifically that only 41% of the supplements at Target, 22% at GNC, and 18% at Walgreens had the ingredient advertised. At Wal-Mart, only 4% of the supplements contained the advertised ingredient.
