Phoenix Man Claims $2.8 Million The Pick(TM) Winning Ticket

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - Feb 3, 2015) - The Arizona Lottery announces a $2.8 million The Pick jackpot winning ticket from the drawing on Saturday Jan. 24, has been claimed.

Phoenix resident Joe DeSilva purchased The Pick winning ticket from a QuikTrip located at 2750 W. Thunderbird Rd. in Phoenix. After purchasing his ticket, he placed it on his desk and it was quickly buried in paperwork. After DeSilva cleaned his desk and checked his ticket online he was shocked to discover that his ticket had six matching numbers, making him the jackpot winner.

The ticket was claimed at the Arizona State Lottery office in Phoenix. DeSilva does not have definite plans for the money yet, but was excited to claim the prize. If he chooses the annuity option, the prize will be $2,835,326.70. If the cash option is chosen, the prize will be $1,902,903.80.

"It has been a great few weeks for Arizona winners, we are excited to see another Arizona winner claim their ticket," said Karen Bach, director of budget, products, and communications for the Arizona Lottery.

The next The Pick drawing will be held on Feb. 4 for an estimated $1.1 million jackpot.

Tickets can be purchased at any Arizona Lottery retailer. Players can check their tickets by visiting ArizonaLottery.com.

Players must be 21 years or older to purchase or redeem tickets. Winners have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize at an Arizona Lottery office or by mail. Overall odds vary by game.
