Founded in the town of El Limón de los Peraza, La Original Banda El Limón has kept the traditional sound of the bands of the Mexican province of Sinaloa throughout the years. But it was the first group in the style to include vocalists, a landmark before-and-after moment in Sinaloan music history. Some of the group's achievements include their musical participation in the Mexican film Hecho en México, the TV series: Zacatillo, Soy tu dueña, and Mañana Es Para Siempre. Among other innovations, La Original Banda el Limón took critics and public alike by surprise when they became the first group of the genre to record two numbers entirely in English: "Bésame mucho" and "A mi manera." The list of awards the band has received over its more than 60 years of uninterrupted work would be extensive. Most recently, La Original was presented with a special recognition by Billboard for musical excellence and won two Latin Grammys in two consecutive years.
David Bisbal was born in Almeria, Spain. At the age of seventeen, he began performing as a vocalist with Orquesta Expresiones. Shortly after taking second place on the first edition of reality show Operación Triunfo in 2001, he made his debut as a solo artist with "Corazón Latino," released in 2002. The album was certified 13 times Platinum and received the Diamond Record award. Some of his significant recognitions include the ONDAS award for Best Album of the Year, nominations at the 2003 Latin GRAMMY for Best New Artist and Best Male Pop Vocal Album and a Latin GRAMMY for Best New Artist 2003. That same year, David Bisbal took home the World's Best Latin Artist award at the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo (Monaco). In 2012 he received another Latin GRAMMY in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category. Since then, he has released four studio albums: "Buleria" in 2004, "Premonición" in 2006, "Sin Mirar Atrás" in 2009 and his latest album "Tu y Yo" in 2014. All four records topped the Spanish Albums Charts and broke sales records around the world. He has shared the stage with several world-renowned artists including Alejandro Sanz, Rihanna, Luis Fonsi, Wisin & Yandel, Jessica Simpson, Raphael, Rocio Jurado, Armando Manzanero and Espinoza Paz. His latest album, "Tú y Yo" has been certified three times Platinum in Spain and received a Gold Record in Latin America.
Mario Domm is a composer, singer and producer born in Coahuila, Mexico. His imagination, sensibility and technical knowledge have created some of the best songs in the contemporary Latin American repertoire. From Alejandro Sanz to Taboo (Black Eyed Peas), Alejandra Guzmán, Kalimba, Reyli, Sin Bandera, Rosana, Jesse and Joy, Romeo, Alejandro Fernández and Thalía, his vision and commitment have been the best ally of many record productions, something that is even more obvious in Camila, his most personal project. He released his third album in 2014, Elypse, after the successful "Todo cambió" (2006) and "Dejarte de amar" (2010). An artist with great charisma and humility, Mario Domm knows how to listen to his colleagues to help them bring out the best they have to give. This is the reason for his many awards, recognitions and nominations as engineer, producer, composer or performer of his own work and other collaborations. Domm lives in Los Angeles, California, where he works in his own recording studio named Pop The Cherry Studios.
That evening, ASCAP will also recognize the Songwriter of The Year, Publisher of the Year, Independent Publisher of the Year and Latin Song of the Year. Awards will also be presented in the following categories: Pop, Tropical, Regional Mexican, Urban, and Television.
