ST. LOUIS, Mo., Feb. 11, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - TierPoint has announced that all six of its recently acquired Xand data centers have passed a rigorous process to confirm that they meet Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 requirements for physical controls and information security policies. Having all of the (former) Xand data centers covered under the same reporting controls is a unique achievement, placing TierPoint among a select few managed infrastructure providers. TierPoint 's Seattle and Spokane facilities are also SOC 2-Type II compliant and the company continues to work on a plan for all locations to achieve SOC2-Type II compliance. SOC2-Type II compliance is considered important by many businesses looking for a colocation or managed hosting provider because it means that the processes and technologies used in multiple facilities are optimized to work together and maintain high levels of security and availability.
In a process that began prior to TierPoint's Xand acquisition, chief security officer Paul Mazzucco managed the attestation process which documented the company's beliefs that it satisfied SOC 2 requirements in its six data centers from November 2013 until December 2014. The (former) Xand data centers are located in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New York. Grant Thornton, LLP conducted the SOC 2 audit for verification.
"Delivering a great customer experience includes ensuring security, compliance and operational excellence across our large infrastructure," Mazzucco said. "Our commitment to adhering to the highest standards is evidenced by our continuous investments in achieving certifications that focus on business process controls and protecting customer data and privacy." In addition to SOC 2, these six former Xand data centers have achieved multiple compliances and accreditation relating to HIPAA, PCI DSS, Gramm-Leach-Bliley and SSAE-16 as well as ITAR registration.
About SOC 2
Service Organization Control (SOC) reports are independent 3rd party audits of an organization's people, processes and technologies and validate that an organization has met or exceeded rigid criteria with its ability to protect clients' data. SOC 2, which specifically focuses on the service provider's internal controls related to security, availability, confidentiality, processing integrity and privacy, validates protection against unauthorized physical and logical access.
