Readiness Summit: America Faces Multiple Threats - Are We Prepared?

Readiness Summit to Examine State of US National Preparedness

America Faces Multiple Threats - Are We Prepared?

ARLINGTON, Va., Feb. 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Registration is now open and exhibit space and sponsorships are available at one of the most significant readiness events of 2015.  Top experts will explore defense and homeland security preparedness at the Readiness Summit in Crystal City.  Attendance is free for the media.

The United States today faces what is probably the most diverse and unpredictable array of threats to its national security than at any previous time in history.  This environment, combined with an extremely constrained national security budget, is challenging force readiness now and for the foreseeable future.  While the Pentagon seeks ways to make hard decisions that mitigate adverse consequences, acquisition programs will inevitably compete with readiness dollars.

The 25 February Readiness Summit, to be held at the Crystal Gateway Marriott, will engage panels of top experts in a series of discussions on how best to preserve readiness while simultaneously identifying innovative and cost effective solutions to growing readiness gaps.

The keynote speaker at the Summit will be the Honorable Rob Wittman, Chair, Readiness Subcommittee, House Armed Services Committee and a member of the Congressional Modeling and Simulation Caucus.

Sponsored by the National Training and Simulation Association, and the National Defense Industrial Association, the Summit will include the following panel sessions:

    Readiness Requirements Review and Challenges
-Views by Congress, DoD, Service and Industry
Service Readiness Programs: the Current Path
-How are DoD and the Services Attacking Readiness Issues?
    Game Changing Training Technologies
-What Technologies Could Drive Next Generation Training Concepts? A View from R &D and Industry
    Key Readiness Enabler
-What Needs to be Done in the Areas of Ranges, Synthetic Training Environments/LVC, IT and IA to Support Next Generation Training Systems Concepts and Technologies?

Panel participants include:

RADM Marcus A. Hitchcock, USN, Director, Fleet/Joint Training (N7), U.S. Fleet Forces Command
Mr. Daniel P.C. Feehan, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Readiness)
Mr. Frank DiGiovanni, SES, Director, Force Readiness and Training
