SAN JOSE, CALIF., March 18, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Prysm, Inc., a privately held designer and manufacturer of video wall systems that deliver immersive and engaging user experiences, today announced the installation of an interactive Olympic video wall at the new UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay. The installation, located in the passageway between UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital San Francisco and the adult hospitals, was dedicated as an expression of gratitude to its donors who have contributed nearly $600 million to the building of the $1.5B medical center.
The 13ft wide by 4ft high interactive Olympic video wall is a fitting addition to the state-of-the-art facility. The video wall incorporates a broad range of content and user interactions to deliver a high level of engagement with visitors. A motion-tracking 'attract mode' captures the attention of visitors walking past the installation. Touch-screen capabilities accommodate multiple simultaneous users who are able to access information about donors, along with content about UCSF Medical Center's hospitals, patients, faculty, staff, programs, and uniquely crafted interactive games that appeal to a broad audience.
UCSF Medical Center has expanded upon the traditional approach to donor recognition by incorporating a broad range of content and user interactions. "Prysm's Olympic video wall allows us to recognize our tremendously generous donors in a uniquely engaging manner," said Holly Houston, director of communications and donor wall project manager at UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay. "Prysm has helped create a full multimedia experience that truly pays tribute to the men and women who have made the new children's, women's and cancer hospital complex possible."
Sensory Interactive, the digital media design and consulting firm for the project, developed the overall program for the space, from the design of system components, specification of hardware and software, to the development of interactive applications and content. The company also supervised the fabrication, installation and final commissioning of the elements that completed the environment. "With Prysm's Olympic video wall as the centerpiece, we've designed an installation that shares UCSF Medical Center's story and its great service to the community in a compelling and engaging way," said Randy Byrd, president and chief executive officer of Sensory Interactive.
