BEIJING, March 25, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- (China Content Broadcasting Network Exhibition – Radisson "Blu" Beijing) -- Entropic (Nasdaq:ENTR), a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, announced today the deployment of its latest c.LINK® Broadband Ethernet-over-Coax (EoC) Access technology by Tianjin Broadcast and TV Network Co., Ltd. in field trials beginning this month. By deploying Entropic's newest technology within its network, the leading Chinese operator gains higher network performance, a lower bill of materials (BOM) cost and an easy and scalable upgrade path from c.LINK 1.1.
cLINK 1.1+ is comprised of the EN3681 Network Controller (NC) and the EN3690 Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and offers a multiple channel EoC solution that can deliver up to 800 Mbps of aggregated throughput, ensuring the bandwidth and flexibility needed to meet China's Next Generation Broadcasting (NGB) requirements. The technology enables the delivery of advanced IP-based broadband and interactive services, such as IPTV, IP VoD (video on demand), VoIP (voice over IP), and internet-access over the same coaxial network that is shared with the operator's cable TV service.
Backward compatible with Entropic's c.LINK 1.1 installed base, this newest generation EoC solution protects Tianjin's previous investments and provides them with an upgrade path over their existing services.
"Tianjin has a long history of using Entropic's high-RF c.LINK Access solutions and we are pleased to have them make the next step forward by trialing our c.LINK1.1+ products," said Matt Rhodes, senior vice president, Global Marketing, Entropic. "This solution represents a 4x improvement in available MAC throughput and can be interoperable with legacy c.LINK1.1 CPEs. This solution provides Tianjin a technology that can serve their needs for many years to come."
Availability
Entropic's c.LINK 1.1+ solution is available now. Tianjin Broadcast and TV Network are entering field trials in March with volume deployments targeted for the second half of 2015. The technology will be on display at the 2015 CCBN conference in the Entropic Meeting Suite, located at Radisson "Blu" Beijing – Meeting Room suite 1420.
