OMAHA, Neb., April 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Great Plains Communications, the largest independently-owned telecommunications, last mile, and middle mile provider in the state of Nebraska is pleased to announce the completion of an extensive land and underwater boring project which has expanded their 5,000 mile Nebraska fiber network into South Dakota, extending services into Minnesota. This network expansion will allow Great Plains Communications to offer capacity to carriers, services to South Dakota and Minnesota based customers, and will provide Nebraska-based customers the ability to reach these new markets.
The project took place at the Nebraska and South Dakota state lines on Highway 81 crossing the Missouri River into Yankton, South Dakota. The overall length of the bore was 2,200 feet, with underwater depths reaching up to 60 feet.
