SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 16, 2015) - CyberTECH, one of the nation's leading cybersecurity and Internet of Things (IoT) based ecosystem networks, is co-producing CyberTexas 2015: CyberIOT - Securing the Internet of Things, taking place April 23-24 in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, San Antonio, Texas. Darin Andersen, Chairman and founder of CyberTECH, is curating the event's "Securing The Internet of Things" track. The track is one of event's four areas of emphasis which include Protecting Critical Infrastructure; Educating Our Nation's Next Cyber Workforce; and Operationalizing Cyber Warfare.
"This is a very significant step forward in the nation's cyber security awareness and action," Andersen states. "CyberTexas joins other major cyber organizations on both coasts and is bringing together some of the country's top security minds. I was pleased to serve on the Advisory Board, help set the direction, and assist in putting together the conference in conjunction with so many other leaders in the industry."
CyberTexas was established to provide expanded access to security developments and resources located in Texas; provide an ongoing platform for the education and skill development of cyber professionals & job creation; build strong relationships with other U.S. and International geographies focused on cyber ecosystem development; bring national and international resources to the region to showcase Texas-based cyber assets; identify and encourage business opportunities within and outside of Texas; and create long-term value for the cyber security ecosystem of San Antonio and the State of Texas.
Mr. Andersen will also be leading a session on Securing the Internet of Things titled "Security, Privacy and Trust in the IoT Platforms."
"As the number of devices connected to the Internet continues to grow exponentially, concerns about security and privacy are growing as well," Andersen, who is also CEO of cybersecurity consulting firm CyberUnited. "During this age of the interconnection of all devices, trust is an interesting concept. Users are okay with some companies having their data, but absolutely do not want others or the government to have access to it."
Two additional CyberTECH and CyberUnited executives will also be presenting at the event. Maggey Felix, Director of Marketing and Operations for CyberUnited and CyberTECH, will be moderating "Intergenerational Security & Privacy Divide: Real or Perceived?" and Mike Coomes, former Director, International Engagements and Internet Governance for the DoD and now SVP of Business and Strategy for CyberUnited will be leading a session on "International IoT Convergence in the Private and Public Sector."
