These new routes not only provide new and important nonstop links to/from the Southeast U.S., but also offer a variety of convenient one-stop connection opportunities to Silver’s popular destinations throughout other key points in Florida and the Bahamas.
“We are thrilled to be bringing the airline of choice for Florida and the Bahamas to the Southeast,” said Silver Airways CEO Sami Teittinen. “We look forward to providing customers with our convenient and much needed flights linking our Florida hub cities to New Orleans, Birmingham, and Savannah-Hilton Head, as well as a number of one-stop connections to other Silver Airways destinations in Florida and Bahamas.”
New Orleans International Airport Director of Aviation, Iftikhar Ahmad, said, “With Silver Airways’ announcement today, we now have 15 airlines serving 48 nonstop destinations. This is a new record for our airport giving our passengers more options than ever.”
“We are thrilled to expand our service from Birmingham to the Florida market and return to the Louisiana market," said Alfonso Denson, President and CEO, Birmingham Airport Authority. “Northeast Florida and New Orleans are popular destinations for both business and leisure travelers and will serve the community well. We are excited to have Silver Airways in Birmingham and look forward to an even greater partnership with them as they continue to increase their presence in Birmingham.”
“The Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport is pleased to hear that Silver Airlines will begin service here in June,” said Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport Executive Director Greg Kelly. “We have been without direct flights to Florida since 2011 when American Eagle discontinued operations to Miami. This new daily service to Orlando will provide access to other Florida cities and the Bahamas, as well through connections on Silver’s significant route network. We also see this as an opportunity to bring visitors direct by air from Florida to the Savannah and Hilton Head region. We feel confident that this service will be successful and possibly lead to additional nonstop destinations.”
Silver Airways’ connections offer customers the ease and convenience of seamless booking, ticketing and baggage handling with connections to dozens of destinations outside of Florida that are available via the airline’s interline ticketing partnerships with American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, United, US Airways, Bahamasair, Hahn Air and All Nippon Airways.
Members of United’s MileagePlus® and JetBlue’s TrueBlue customer loyalty programs can also earn frequent flyer awards for travel throughout Silver’s Florida network.
All of Silver’s flights are operated with its fleet of 27 highly reliable and fuel-efficient 34-seat Saab 340B Plus turbo-prop aircraft.
