BIRMINGHAM, ALA., April 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Altec's Chairman and CEO, Lee Styslinger III, has hailed the introduction of the Bipartisan Congressional Trade Priorities and Accountability Act of 2015 (TPA-2015) and is urging quick enactment of the legislation.
Styslinger is a member of the Trade Benefits America Coalition, a broad-based group of U.S. business leaders who have been encouraging Congress and the Obama Administration to move TPA legislation forward in an expedited manner. Congress last enacted TPA in 2002, and it expired in 2007.
"We commend Senator Hatch, Senator Wyden and Representative Ryan for their outstanding work in creating and introducing a bipartisan bill that modernizes and renews Trade Promotion Authority," said Styslinger. "More than one in five American jobs are supported by international trade. In addition, 95 percent of the world's population and 80 percent of its purchasing power now lives outside the United States. Trade agreements help remove foreign barriers, provide transparency and establish strong, enforceable trade rules, helping U.S. companies and their workers sell more goods and services. We call on Congress and President Obama to work together to pass TPA legislation so that America can have established trade agreements that eliminate barriers and provide greater opportunities for goods manufactured in the U.S."
Styslinger was a key member of George W. Bush's Export Council and was responsible for advising President Bush on government policies and programs that affect U.S. trade performance and export expansion opportunities.
